Well Done Mrs Stamper

It’s good to see that a member of our local community is taking strong action to oppose this wind farm build. I am passionate about our areas of natural beauty that surround Carlisle and its local villages, its good to see people getting involved and not letting these money hungry companies stream role into our village telling us how it should look. Well done Allison, keep up the good work. I will certainly spread the word about the project and the great website that has been developed by your team.

As long as there is proof that windfarms do provide homes with energy im all up for the idea. There are more important things than nice views, one of them being to help save our earth!!

Unfortunately, there is not sufficient proof that wind turbines are an effective alternative energy source. Now, if someone said to me "We're going to put this massive wind turbine up on the outskirts of your beautiful village and we're going to ruin the view, but you won't have to pay for electricity ever again" I might consider it. Otherwise, let us be quite clear, the only reason these monstrosities are being built is that, someone, somewhere is making a huge amount of money from the public purse.

If you think that wind turbines are going to help save our earth then you have been seriously conned by the "be green or feel guilty brigade" or by those who are making a packet out of them. If you do really care about our environment you do not vandalise and destroy it with huge concrete and metal structures in the midst of the green and pleasant land we are entrusted with to enjoy and preserve for others and future generations.

If it is necessary to reduce environmental pollution and/ or secure energy supplies there are many other more effective ways of doing this and it is incumbent on us to pressure the planners and politicians into owning up to this and pursuing these alternatives.

You are correct; it is the private companies and the government who reap rewards from these projects. If the government really wanted to help people reduce there energy bills then they would provide smaller mills that could sit on everyone roof and power their properties, but the government would make no money out of this!!

It is important to remember that the electricity can not be stored, so when the turbines are not producing electricity the power has to come from another source!

smaller turbines on the roof of every house, would not work very well either, and still produce noise pollution. Solar Panels however, do have a benefit, and upset nobody. Why does the goverment not subsidise those, instead of these high profile projects, which have so many issues, not least the fact that they produce so little benefit?....Please Google search...'A Problem with wind power'

Piy you did'nt say how many homes could be supplied with electricity from these three turbines. As everyone knows the wind is fickle - with no guarantee that it will blow and even if it does it may be with insifficient power to produce a significant amount of electricity.

As the previous mailer said - it is all about money to be made by speculators which is the driving force. If it was'nt for the obscene subsidies given on each unit of elecrity pushed into the grid these cash wasting monsters would not be built.

They look good on photographs, but in reality they are a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take my word for it - I've had HELL for the past year, living 850m from the Wharrels Hill debacle.
